Washington Internships for Native Students (WINS)
The American University, American Indian Program, sponsors WINS, which provides participants with the experiential learning opportunity of a professional DC internship. Students learn by doing in a fast-paced real-world setting at a wide range of federal agencies and private sector and American Indian/Alaska Native organizations.

Native American Congressional Internships
The Morris K. Udall Foundations funds 12 Native Americans or Alaska Natives each summer for a ten-week internship in Washington, DC. The Native American Congressional Internship Program provides Native American and Alaska Natives with an insider’s view of the federal government. The internship places students in Senate and House offices, committees, Cabinet departments and the White House, where they are able to observe government decision-making processes first-hand.

Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program
The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation established the Barbara Jordan Health Policy Scholars Program in partnership with  Howard University to honor the legacy of former Foundation Trustee and Congresswoman Barbara Jordan and to expand the pool of students of color interested in the field of health policy.

The Scholars Program brings talented African American, Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Asian/Pacific Islander college seniors and recent graduates to Washington, D.C., where they are placed in Congressional offices and learn about health policy. Through the nine-week program (May 21- July 28, 2007), Scholars gain knowledge about federal legislative procedure and health policy issues, while further developing their critical thinking and leadership skills. In addition to gaining experience in a Congressional office, Scholars participate in seminars and site visits to augment their knowledge of health care issues, and write and present a health policy research memo.

American Indian/Alaskan Native Leadership Program
The Washington Center's American Indian/Alaskan Native Leadership program prepares Native American Indian leaders from colleges and universities from across the country to assume leadership positions in the public sector. Students participate in internships tailored to their interests, interact with successful government representatives, and develop leadership skills.

National Museum of American Indians
The Internship Program provides educational opportunities for students interested in the museum profession and related programming. Interns complete projects using the resources of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) and other Smithsonian offices. Internships are an opportunity for students to learn about the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and programs, and meet professionals in the museum field.

American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) Various internship Programs listed
The AISES Internship Program is a 10-week summer program that provides qualified AISES students with internship opportunities to explore potential federal service careers with the following agencies. Interns are provided a weekly stipend and local transportation allowance.

Arizona State Museum - Internship Program
The American Indian Internship Program has been offered since 1993. Since 1999, the internship program has enjoyed indirect support from the Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation enabling U of A students to receive periodic stipends while conducting internships at ASM. In 2001, the Norton Allen American Indian Internship Endowment was established. The program will provide stipends for internships targeting Tohono O'odham students.

American Indian Graduate Center-Various Internship Programs Listed
The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) is the only national non-profit organization dedicated to aiding Indian graduate students in all fields of study. As a non-profit organization, AIGC prides itself on maintaining a very low administrative cost. In fact 90% of all contributions goes directly to student services. We view this careful management of our resources as just one way to meet our goal: to improve the cultural and economic well being of American Indians and Native Alaskans, individually and tribally, through graduate education.

Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOAR)
Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS) is an undergraduate-to-graduate bridge program designed to broaden participation in the atmospheric and related sciences. The program is equal parts research internship, learning community, and mentoring program. SOARS offers comprehensive financial support for summer research and graduate school for up to four years.

Native American Political Leadership Program
The George Washington University’s Semester In Washington is proud to announce the creation of its Native American Political Leadership Program (NAPLP). The purpose of the NAPLP is to attract bright, energetic Native American college students to Washington’s most respected political leadership semester program.

The scholarship program gives qualified Native American undergraduates the opportunity to spend a semester in the nation’s capital while taking classes at GW, participating in hands-on internships and interacting with political leaders and policy makers. The NAPLP includes a series of seminars on Capitol Hill devoted to public policy issues affecting Native American communities, and will play a key role in preparing the next generation of Native American political leaders.

For rising sophomores, juniors, and first year seniors undergraduates, the program offers:

Four Directions Summer Research Program
The Four Directions Summer Research Program (FDSRP) began as an idea among Native American students attending Harvard Medical School (HMS). With the help of a few devoted medical school faculty, the program was launched in 1994 with the successful enrollment of 6 students for the first summer. We are now in our 12th year, and have brought nearly 100 students to HMS during this time.
